CORN MAZE

We are proud to give 100% of proceeds from our 6-acre corn maze to several causes that our family supports and believes in. We hope you will support these efforts by getting lost in our Corn Maze 4 a Cause.

Corn Maze admission is $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children 2-12. Children under 2 are free. When you pay for your admission to the maze YOU get to decide which charity organization your admission will support! Here is the scoop on our 2016 charities:

1. Judy Ramsburg Memorial Scholarship

Our family has set up a memorial scholarship through the Community Foundation of Frederick County in memory of our beloved daughter, sister, and aunt–Judy Ramsburg. Judy brought joy to everyone she knew and she loved to laugh and spend time with her friends and family. It is our hope that this scholarship will bless others as Judy blessed our family. The fund will provide scholarships for residents of Frederick County to attend Frederick Community College. You can choose to have your admission go directly into this scholarship fund.

2. Brookfield Pumpkins Relay for Life Team & American Cancer Society

Our corn maze started as a way to raise awareness and funds for local breast cancer efforts after owner, Mary Jane Roop became a breast cancer survivor and advocate. In the last year both Julie (Roop) Tingue and Sam Roop were diagnosed and treated for medullary thyroid cancer and are both blessed to be cancer survivors now as well. In an effort to rally behind these members of our family and others that are affected by Cancer, we have decided to start fundraising and put together a Brookfield Pumpkins Relay for Life team for the 2017 Relay for Life in Frederick County. If you want to join in on the fun with our group next year, please talk to one of our Pumpkin ladies in the barn this year. We hope you will consider this great cause for your corn maze admission.

3. Cleveland Clinic’s Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute

In the last year we have had three members of our immediate family diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) 2A that causes thyroid cancer, parathyroid disease and adrenal gland tumors. Being such a rare condition it was hard to find experts in the field. We were so blessed to find Cleveland Clinic and Doctor Eren Berber to treat Sam, Julie and Bailey in the past year and moving forward. As an endocrine surgeon at the #2 hospital in the United States he uses amazing technologies in robotic endocrine surgery. We are grateful to live in a country where health care is so accessible and where there is such an emphasis in technology to learn more and improve the medical field. That is why we are giving you the option to choose to have your corn maze admission benefit Dr. Berber and his department at the Cleveland Clinic as we are grateful for his life saving work.

4. Wounded Warrior Project

We salute those who are members of the armed forces yesterday, today and tomorrow. Sam’s brothers Scott and Steve, as well as extended members of our Roop family, have been on the front lines fighting for our country’s freedoms and we want to say thank you. To honor our family and your family members who serve we have selected the Wounded Warrior project as a recipient of our corn maze admissions this year. Their mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors by helping those veterans and their families who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or wound during their military service after the September 11 tragedy. This year you can choose to have your corn maze admission benefit this patriotic organization.

5. Frederick Church of the Brethren’s Haiti Mission

We attend Frederick Church of the Brethren (FCOB) and are excited to help support their global mission work to Haiti. FCOB works with For his Glory, a Christian ministry, which works with an orphanage in Haiti called Maison des Enfants de Dieu. Through funds and regular visits from missionaries at FCOB they help meet the needs of orphans in Haiti. They also participate in week long work camps in Port-au-Prince doing construction work in an effort to rebuild the community. Your corn maze admission could support this faithful cause.
